The Nigerian Malacological Society (NMS) was established in 2012 by malacologists from different parts of Nigeria converging at Abeokuta Ogun state for the maiden conference of the society. Since then annual conferences had been held at different states/regions of the country thereby increasing its memberships and popularity across the country.

The goal of NMS is to champion and promote the field of malacology, that is, the study of molluscs (snails, bivalves, slugs, periwinkles, etc.) from land, marine, and freshwater habitats. The society encourages and welcomes members from academia, farmers, ministries, industries, institutes, and interested individuals. It is registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC/IT/NO137299).

Network conferences are held annually. Check to see Announcements here.
